Burden of the First Sorrow
Her first sorrow was a heavy load
A weight that dug deep in her soul
It wasn’t something she could ignore
It was always there, a constant sore
She’d try to push it out her mind
But it was always there, she couldn’t find
A way to make the pain go away
It was with her, night and day
She’d tell herself it wasn’t real
But the ache inside, she couldn’t conceal
It was her first sorrow, and it cut deep
She couldn’t escape, couldn’t sleep
She didn’t know how to cope
It was a feeling she’d never know
A heartache that she’d never felt
It was a sorrow that left her dwelt
She didn’t know how to move on
The pain felt like it would last so long
It was her first sorrow, and it was hard
It left a mark, a permanent scar
But as time passed, the pain did ease
And she found the strength to find peace
Though it was her first sorrow, it wouldn’t be her last
She’d learn to live with it, and make it part of her past.
